Whether you are selling your home or just want suggestions how to freshen up a room in a 'Green' way. Here are a few fast tips.
When the weather changes to hot and sometimes humid, several homes could use a little help in the “Green“ scent department. Clean ‘green’ scents can do a lot for us. A simple idea could be to use natural ingredients to make our homes smell delightfully fresh and clean.
Here’s how you can use simple ingredients like lemon peel, vanilla and lavender essential oils, plus more that can make your home smell fresh and inviting.
Green Sweet Mist
Mists are a simple way to add natural wholesome scents to your home and they are proven allies in the fight against germs. Mists are a simple way of providing aromatherapy by just using essential oils, water and a spray mist bottle. Misting a few spritzes of these antibacterial sprays on bathroom surfaces, doorknobs, telephones, items you or visitors touch and to help keep your home smelling fresh and clean. Because essential oils are antibacterial, they also help kill germs. Your home will be scented with a remarkable fragrance. Look for all-natural pure essential oils at your local natural foods store or online.
This makes enough for a full Mist Bottle. Use liberally on non-staining surfaces or simply spray upward in the center of the room, being sure to avoid contact with eyes.
Ingredients:
3 drops sweet orange essential oil
2 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Mix well. With purified or distilled water in a spray bottle, shaking to mix. Store in a cool, dark place.
Lucky Lemons
The invigorating clean fragrance of lemons is an instant uplift. Try peeling a lemon then twisting the peel so that the oils are released into the room. With a little free time you can simmer lemon slices in water on the stove to add a clean fragrance to a room.
Lovely Lavender
Is it a myth? Spiders dislike the scent of lavender. A handful of thoroughly dried lavender can be placed in an attractive container beside the bed to help your bedroom smell fresh and to promote a relaxing sleep. I love to have my sheets pressed with a couple drops of lavender essential oil and vanilla essential oils mixed with distilled water in a mister. The scent is like a field of fresh flowers in bloom.
Rosemary
Rosemary has a refreshing scent. You can burn cut dried sprigs of rosemary (using an sensible item that will not catch fire underneath to catch any sparks!) to help cleanse the environment in your house. I have also used rosemary to help remove the musty smell from old trunks, quilts, etc. It has been said that "Rosemary has been used in sickrooms for many centuries, described as a time-honored antimicrobial."
Vanilla Spritzer
A vanilla spritzing spray is so easy to make. Simply add a few drops of vanilla essential oil to a spritzing bottle filled with water. The vanilla bean has properties that help reduce odors and helps in various areas.
Please note: Do not use these if you are allergic to any of the items above.Use common sense, do not ingest, these are non edible. We are not responsable for your use or misuse in any way shape or form.
